Afternoon tea is a delightful British tradition that involves a selection of finger sandwiches, scones, Devonshire clotted cream, jam, and cakes. It is typically served in the afternoon as a light meal or a social gathering, providing an opportunity to relax and enjoy a variety of delicious treats.

  1. Finger Sandwiches: Finger sandwiches are small, delicate sandwiches that are usually crustless and cut into bite-sized portions. They are made with a variety of fillings and can include classics like cucumber and cream cheese, smoked salmon, egg salad, ham and mustard, or chicken and mayonnaise. The sandwiches are typically served on a variety of bread, such as white, whole wheat, or even mini brioche rolls.

  2. Scones: Scones are a staple of afternoon tea and are traditionally served warm. They are a type of baked pastry that is light, fluffy, and slightly crumbly. Scones can be plain or flavored with additions like raisins, currants, or citrus zest. They are typically split in half and spread with jam and clotted cream.

  3. Devonshire Clotted Cream: Devonshire clotted cream is a thick and velvety cream with a rich, silky texture. It is made by gently heating full-fat cow's milk and allowing it to cool slowly. The cream that forms on top is then skimmed off and used as clotted cream. It has a luxurious taste and is traditionally spread on scones, adding a luscious and indulgent element to the tea experience.

  4. Jam: A selection of jams, such as strawberry, raspberry, or blackcurrant, is usually offered alongside the scones and clotted cream. These fruity spreads add sweetness and vibrant flavors to the scones, allowing guests to customize their scone toppings according to their preferences.

  5. Cakes: The cake selection in an afternoon tea can vary, but typically includes a variety of small, bite-sized cakes or pastries. These may include treats like mini Victoria sponge cakes, lemon drizzle cakes, chocolate éclairs, fruit tarts, macarons, or petits fours. The cakes add a touch of indulgence and sweetness to the tea experience, allowing guests to sample different flavors and textures.

Afternoon tea is often accompanied by a pot of freshly brewed tea, such as Earl Grey, English breakfast, or herbal infusions, to complement the flavors of the various treats. It is a lovely and leisurely way to spend an afternoon, savoring a combination of savory and sweet delights in a relaxed and elegant setting.

Ideal for baby showers, family get togethers, micro weddings, or a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Best Afternoon Tea EVER!

I came with my daughter for Afternoon Tea for Mother's Day. We both got dressed up in sun dresses. We already love Steve's Teas. I got my favourite, Cream Earl Grey, and my daughter picked her favourite- Caramel Apple Rooibos. It was so nice to sit outside. I have attended many tea houses, but this was my daughter's first time. All she could say was, "WOW!" When the tiers were brought out. The "mom-tails" or tea cocktails were a special touch and so was the poem. We love Steve's Teas and have already been back since. We tell everyone we know and can't recommend them highly enough.
